You will be guided by members of the design team and owner on a behind the scenes tour describing what makes the building sustainable.\u00a0 And you&#8217;ll hear first-hand the obstacles that had to be overcome and the philosophy changes required to make a place sustainable. The tours are free and intended for the public.<\/p>\n<p>This month&#8217;s tour is one of our city&#8217;s real treasures: The Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research at 5300 Caroline Street in the Museum District on Friday, August 20, 2010. The tours will run from\u00a011am &#8211; 2pm, beginning approximately every 30 minutes. This one is unique because it is a rare renovation project that has received LEED certification, LEED-NC Silver. Plus, it is a local resource you need to be aware of anyway as one of the finest genealogical libraries in the US. The Clayton Home was origianlly built in 1917, designed by Briscoe and became a library in 1958.<\/p>\n<p>These tours are organized by the the City of Houston&#8217;s Green Building Resource Center.
