A \u201cnew, third-party utility-scale solar facility in Texas dedicated to City operations\u201d will provide 1,034,399 MWh of renewable energy annually. Houston has long been the largest municipal purchaser of renewable energy, but this is the first time it has committed to 100% renewables. Mayor Turner announced that the contract will save the city $9.3 million per year.
